Blackjack basics: How to play the game (part 3)
When it has been established that the blackjack dealer does not have a blackjack in his hand then the players many now play their respective hands. The following options can be used by the players in this case:
Stand – A player can Stand if the player is satisfied with the hand that he has. As a way of indicating that you wish to stand, the player should wave his hand just like he is waving that dealer away. If it is a single deck game, the player will tuck his cards face down under the bet.
Hit – If the player wishes to take another card he can continue to keep doing this until he either decides to stand or he busts. As a way of indicating that he wants to hit, the player will tap the table with his finger. In a single deck game, the player would scrape the cards lightly against the felt.
Double – If the player wants or feels that needs just one more card then he can double his bet and be dealt another card – whether it is good or bad. The option is only offered on the first two cards and sometimes on the first two cards after the split. As a way of signifying that the player wants to double, the player should place another wager beside the original wager that is of equal value. In a single deck game, the player will place the cards face up next to the bet.
