Blackjack Variants – Which Pays Better?

Blackjack, just like most any other card game, has numerous variants. Yet the basics of the game remain the same. For blackjack, no matter which variant you are playing, the main objective is for the player to get as close to 21 as possible without busting (or going over that number). The same thing goes for the dealer. Whoever gets closest to 21 wins. For the dealer, he must stand (or not draw other cards) if he has more than 16. Below that number, he must hit (or draw another card).

Variants were introduced in order to make the game more exciting. However, more often than not, the variants also increase the house edge. So if your aim is to win more at blackjack, you have to know which variant pays more in the end.

Some of the most common variants are Spanish 21, pontoon, a 21 with the combination 6, 7, 8, and a 21 with the combination of 7, 7, 7. Other casinos have variants wherein players still get paid when they get 21 and the dealer also gets 21. There are also French and German variants. One variant that has gained popularity lately is Elimination Blackjack. So which variant really pays off?

Experts claim that if played correctly, the basic blackjack has the best odds for the player. All other variants merely increase the house edge and thus provide worse odds for the player. Now it is up to you, really. If you are in for the excitement then the variants may be the best for you. Yet if you want to go for the surer win, then the basic blackjack is the way to go.
