What You Need To Know About Hole-card Play

If you are wondering what a hole-card play is, then you have come to the right place. The truth of the matter is that the general public is amazed at hole-card play. Furthermore, the casual blackjack player thinks that this kind of play has some sort of magic to it. I urge you to learn more about hole-card play, though, as it does not really involve magic.
In fact, hole-card play is merely made up of a spectrum of techniques that help a blackjack player figure out (to a certain extent) what kind of card the dealer is holding. Naturally, if you have knowledge of the dealer’s hole card, you can increase your chances of winning dramatically.
Is it really possible to learn hole-card play? If others can do it, then so can you! This is what Richard W. Munchkin has to say about it (he is one of the most successful hole-card players by the way):
For every one hour spent on the table playing, the hole-card player may spend ten hours scouting … Most players, even if shown a dealer who is flashing, would not be able to spot the hole card anyway. Holecarders spend hundreds of hours training their eyes to see something that flashes by in a fraction of a second, often cast in shadow.
So what do they do in those hundreds of hours of training to spot the dealer’s hole card? As I mentioned earlier, there are many different strategies employed in trying to learn about the dealer’s hole card. Let us take a look at these specific methods in the next post.
