Blackjack At Aqueduct A Possibility

Ever heard of Aqueduct? It’s actually called Aqueduct Racetrack and also popularly known as the Big A. Obviously, it is a horse racetrack and it is located in Ozone Park in Queens. There are current plans of placing video lottery terminals at Aqueduct, to the delight of many gamblers. The plans are being expanded, though, and will certainly make blackjack enthusiasts happy. If a senator’s proposal is approved, other games of chance like blackjack will be added! Yournabe has this story:
State Sen. Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) is suggesting that the other casino games should be installed at Aqueduct and other state racetracks where VLTs — devices similar to slot machines — are approved in an effort to boost revenue for education amid the state’s fiscal woes.
His colleague, state Sen. Joseph Addabbo (D-Howard Beach), whose district covers Aqueduct, is endorsing the idea.
“We probably wouldn’t be talking about this if it wasn’t for bad fiscal times,” Addabbo said in a telephone interview Friday. “If we have the opportunity to help to an extent the education part of the budget … then we should explore some of these alternatives.”
Take note, they are putting out disclaimers even before the proposal has been filed. They are saying that it is only because of the dire economic times that blackjack is being considered. Spare me the baloney, seriously. If the economic times were not half as bad, someone would still think of the idea! Why not? It will certainly enrich the coffers of the government and make a lot of people happy as well. Let’s hope this proposal pushes through.
