Nowadays about 1 out of every 5 blackjack players I work with are women. As far as card counting abilities go, men and women seem to be equally able to learn and apply the methods I teach. One required characteristic of a great blackjack player would be self-discipline. In this area I think women may have the upper hand! Male or female, best of luck to you all!
