Hold on to Your Savings; Blackjack Winner is Robbed at Gunpoint. Don’t Worry: He was Later Captured by the Cops

If you win, don’t flaunt it.
And even if you don’t flaunt it, keep your winnings to yourself when you leave a casino.
From an Associated Press report:
An Eagan, Minnesota woman playing blackjack at Mystic Lake Casino accepted a ride home from a man, only to be robbed at gunpoint and assaulted, according to a criminal complaint.
Neville Grant, 35, of Plymouth, is charged in Dakota County District Court with first-degree aggravated robbery, kidnapping and two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
According to the police complaint the woman took a bus to the Prior Lake casino on the night of Jan. 2. While playing blackjack, she met a man who called himself Rick or Ricardo, who followed her around.
When the woman got ready to go about 4 a.m. on Jan. 3, he offered to drive her to Eagan if she paid for some gas, the complaint said.
She never should have accepted the ride.
When they got to her apartment complex, he pulled a small black gun, pointed it at her thigh and demanded her money, according to the complaint. The woman, who had $800 in her bra, didn’t turn it over, so the man starting driving, eventually reaching Hwy. 13, it added.
She later gave him the money and he drove her home, the complaint said.
When they got there, he put the gun away, tried to kiss her and put a hand down her pants, it added.
Eagan police contacted the casino’s security, which found surveillance video of the two and identified the license plate on the man’s vehicle.
That led to Grant, who was arrested Saturday by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. The woman also identified Grant in a lineup of six photos.
Good work by the police. And a lesson for us all.
