Types of Hole Card Play

In the previous post, we talked about hold card play – a term loosely used to encompass various types of plays whereby the blackjack player can determine the dealer’s hole card. Though particularly effective, this kind of play is controversial at the very least. In fact, there have been people who have been jailed because of this kind of play. So what are the different techniques people use to determine the dealer’s hole card?
Blackjack Forum Online presents the following:
First Basing:
This is precisely the type of blackjack hole-card play described above, as engaged in by Einbinder and Dalben.
The article talks about the two men playing in such a manner wherein on sits in a position wherein he can actually see the dealer’s hole card. This usually happens when the dealer has to check his card in case it is an ace or 10 for a possible blackjack. The position is called first base and the player sitting there bets the minimum all the time. Whenever he gets any information, he signals to his partner, who is seated in another position and who can then make his play according to what the first base person tells him.
Obviously, this kind of play is considered cheating by many. I have to agree with this. After all, the person who is making high bets (the one not in first base) is not playing based on his own skill but on insider information.
More techniques in the next post.

What You Need To Know About Hole-card Play

If you are wondering what a hole-card play is, then you have come to the right place. The truth of the matter is that the general public is amazed at hole-card play. Furthermore, the casual blackjack player thinks that this kind of play has some sort of magic to it. I urge you to learn more about hole-card play, though, as it does not really involve magic.
In fact, hole-card play is merely made up of a spectrum of techniques that help a blackjack player figure out (to a certain extent) what kind of card the dealer is holding. Naturally, if you have knowledge of the dealer’s hole card, you can increase your chances of winning dramatically.
Is it really possible to learn hole-card play? If others can do it, then so can you! This is what Richard W. Munchkin has to say about it (he is one of the most successful hole-card players by the way):
For every one hour spent on the table playing, the hole-card player may spend ten hours scouting … Most players, even if shown a dealer who is flashing, would not be able to spot the hole card anyway. Holecarders spend hundreds of hours training their eyes to see something that flashes by in a fraction of a second, often cast in shadow.
So what do they do in those hundreds of hours of training to spot the dealer’s hole card? As I mentioned earlier, there are many different strategies employed in trying to learn about the dealer’s hole card. Let us take a look at these specific methods in the next post.

Tips That Will Win You Over $100 Per Play?

Whenever I share some tips and secrets about blackjack – or any other casino game for that matter – I find myself staying away from giving any guarantees when it comes to how much you can win. I saw this article which practically gives that guarantee, though. Titled “5 Tips to Win Big Money at Blackjack - Win Over $100 Per Hour of Play!”, this article certainly caught my eye.
I have gone over the tips several times and I think that they do make sense. They are quite sound, actually. Let us take a look at some of them.
This is easy, and it’s a no-brainer. Play tables that offer only a one deck game. Stay away from the multi-deck shoes as these give the house a huge advantage. Your winning percentage literally drops to about 30% edge, not a smart way to approach the game.
I’ve written about this in a previous post – playing more than 1 deck certainly lessens your chances of winning.
Keep the betting consistent. Don’t waver your bets with every hand. To take advantage of a winning hand percentage, keep the bets close by within 5-10 dollars each time.
The idea is not to win big just one time. There will be losing streaks and winning streaks – that is a given. In order to make it good in the long run, you need to be steady with your bets. Avoid making chase bets – they might work sometimes but most of the time they dig a deeper hole for you.
So these two make sense, right? But I don’t know if they will make you a hundred in a single play. What do you think?

International Blackjack Launched

If you have been hankering to play blackjack with people from all over the world, then you do not have to wait any longer. In fact, there are already countless online casinos which offer this sort of system. There is a new online blackjack league, however, which has been specially designed for international players.
Thanks to Fortune Lounge, together with Platinum Play and Royal Vegas, the new international online blackjack league has been launched. This type of league is perfect for those blackjack players who prefer to compete against real people instead of playing against the house.
Personally, I like the idea as playing against the house has fixed odds – including the house edge. When you play against real players, however, you just might get better chances of winning, especially if your opponents are not as skilled as you are. The odds then, mostly depend on the players’ skills and not chance.
The game itself has been described as “fast paced,” something that many people want. The game play is like elimination blackjack wherein the player with the smallest chip stack will be removed from the game at the end of a selected round. These rounds are preselected and will occur every so often. As a result, the stronger players are more likely to remain in the game while the weaker ones will get eliminated. Quite obviously, the last man standing will be the winner of the game.
This really does sound exciting and I am sure that a lot of blackjack players around the world will participate – and that includes yours truly.

Wagerworks Releases New Blackjack Game
If you are like me, you’re always on the lookout for new deals in the blackjack world. That is why I usually find myself browsing various forums and PR sites wherein I might be able to find the latest news on blackjack – especially of the online variety. Well here is good news for all of us! Wagerworks, one of the most respected names in the world of game developers, has recently announced its latest offering. Here is their press release for you to enjoy:
Online games developer and software provider Wagerworks has launched its latest blackjack offering, Vegas Blackjack with 20+ Bonus.
A statement from the company comments that in other Blackjack games, the player continues to play without the offer of insurance even if the Dealer has a hidden Blackjack. Vegas Blackjack with 20+ Bonus adopts instead the powerful American Blackjack rule where the dealer checks for Blackjack immediately, keeping players from needlessly risking more money, a feature which will no doubt appeal to both casual and novice players.
In Vegas Blackjack with 20+ Bonus, players can fully cash in on advantageous hands like a double-down and hit on split Aces. Combined with the ability to double down on any two cards, double down after splits, and dealer stands on soft 17, the game goes some way to meeting the company’s claims that it is one of the most generous in its genre. And an additional bet pays the player the biggest initial two card hands if he or she has Blackjack or 20, and pays even bigger if the player’s hand does not win.
I don’t know about you but a 20+ Bonus is sounding pretty good to me right now.
